The Women Behind The Brand : Why A Former Olympic Fencer Launched Azza Fencing

Azza Besbes, the brain behind the footwear project, is 3 times Olympian fencer, one of the most decorated figure in Africa's fencing history and a silver medalist at the 2017 World Championship. 

Azza suffered multiple injuries during her career and ended up with serious health issues, leading her to stop her career earlier than expected.

 Frustrated by subpar fencing shoe quality, Azza decided it was time for a fencer to offer the best fencing shoes to its peers.

STEPPING INTO STYLE: THE MAKING OF AZZA FENCING FOOTWEAR

The journey began with the R&D phase conducted in collaboration with the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textile and Apparel. Following this, Azza forged partnerships with footwear experts from around the globe to initiate the design and development process. Over the course of two years, multiple rounds of prototyping were completed, with each sample undergoing initial testing in the lab before being evaluated by professional fencers.
